The Dimensions of Wellness

Living a wellness lifestyle is no only for longevity. Ti live fully well is beyond attractive payoff and benefits Living this lifestyle is considered a richer way to be ALIVE. Wellness should be fun and satisfying existence.
Six Dimension of Wellness
1.       Spiritual
2.       Physical
3.       Intellectual
4.       Emotional
5.       Social
6.       Occupational

Spiritual wellness involves living of life with sense of meaning and direction. Life is full  of experiences and reflecting on that experiences would lead us to discover a personal meaning and purpose of life. Being able to identify the true source of joy, pleasure and fulfillment is spiritual clarification of values and beliefs. To live life as journey towards a destiny design to us by our creator.

Physical Dimension
It deals with the functional operation of the body. Our body is the best machine provided. Physical dimension composed of physical fitness; muscular strength, muscular endurance, cardio respiratory , flexibility, and body compositions. Eating healthy foods, exercise and prayer and meditation have significant  effect on physical well being and positive healthy habits are critical to physical well being.

Intellectual Dimension
This dimension involves the use of your mind. Total well being depends also from maintaining active mind. Intellectual development is not limited to formal educational school learning. It involves on engaging ones mind in creative and non stimulating mental activities. It means continuous acquisition of knowledge throughout life. How? Through reading, writing, keeping update of current issues are intellectual pursuit. Healthy mind is healthy body.

Emotional Dimension
Positive mental state id directly link to wellness. Emotional wellness involves recognizing our feelings as well the feelings of others. Emotional management means the ability to control or cope with personal feelings. Learn to maintain emotional stability amidst of the highs and lows of emotions. Emotional wellness is reflected in our abilities to laugh, to enjoy life, adjust changes, cope its stress, and to maintain intimate relationship.

Social Dimension
Wellness comes also in our inter action with others. It is the ability to get along with others at same time appreciating the differences in people. If it is being express in fairness, justice and concern for the welfare of the community and mankind as a whole; Good friends, close family ties, intimate and trusting relationship are manifestation of  emotional wellness.

Occupational Dimension
This derives personal satisfaction from your vocation.  Much of your life will be spent at work. It is important that your chosen career provides the internal and external rewards you value. What work/job do you want? Do you want  job that allows creativity, inter action with others, daily challenges and autonomy? Define your motivation in working? What is your motivation? Is salary is your major motivation? Are you motivated to work not only for your goodness but for others as well? Occupational wellness has to be balance of time of work and leisure time. It involves work environment and minimize stress and exposure to physical healthy hazards. If you are not happy with your occupation, you will find that your entire well being suffers.

Points to Ponder
 Which dimension is your weakest?
Which are strongest?
Ideally, there must be growth in each dimensions which involves positive choices in these six dimension
